USPORT Unite brings together south florida sports business professionals and university of miami sports administration students in networking event
November 5, 2014, MIAMI – Taking place October 22nd with the University of Miami USPORT student run program and local South Florida Sports Business Professionals, USPORT Unite brought together some of the area’s leading sports industry professionals with the Miami Marlins, Florida Panthers, Homestead Miami Speedway, UM Athletics and others at their networking event.
Sponsored by Coral Gables Trust and held at the newly renovated Rathskeller restaurant located on the University of Miami campus, Michael Turner, University of Miami Athletics Assistant AD, Events & Operations, gave the welcoming remarks to guests followed by a short discussion with guest speaker Ryan Bertschman, Miami Marlins, Director of Sales.
An event held exclusively for USPORT members and students with the University of Miami Sports Administration program, the networking event was put on to unite students and young alumni of the University with local sports business professionals in order to share insights and valuable information about working in the sports industry and how to break in along with informing them of opportunities in the community. In addition to this, it also brought together numerous other sports business professionals in the community providing them the opportunity to grow their network of relationships.
"It was a great event with so many important and experienced local sports industry professionals,” said USPORT President, Daniel Leder, a Junior at the University of Miami, about USPORT Unite. “The advice I learned from not only the speakers, but also from interacting with the other professionals, will help me as I pursue a career in sports. I really enjoyed it, and cannot wait to apply what I learned in my next job or internship."
USPORT, an organization designed to provide members with opportunities to network and get experience in all areas of the sport industry, is open to students of all majors and minors at the University of Miami. By going beyond academics to bring the experience of the sports world to each member, the organization brings in guest speakers, hosts events, partners with professional sport organizations and more by utilizing the vast opportunities available in the South Florida market.
